Mike Schneider suddenly uploaded a video on how to replace fingerboard rip tape.
Here’s how to do it:
1. Slowly and carefully remove the existing rip tape bit by bit.
This seems to be the best way to avoid leaving adhesive residue on the deck.
2. Wash the replacement rip tape with water.
In the video, you can see a difference between the part Mike Schneider touched and the untouched part.
It looks like there’s a coating applied during the manufacturing process,
and removing this coating might provide better grip.
That’s probably why he washes it with water.
3. Attach it to the deck.
Just like we usually do, attach it to the deck, then use a knife, scissors, or
a file to trim the edges to match the deck’s shape.
Washing the rip tape with water is something I’ve never seen before,
but it seems like a surprising and useful tip.
